...watch
here for scam alerts:
We all hate to be a victim. Dude, that
sucks.
As with any business transaction, you
want to be careful. Remember the things you learned in grade school
like: "Use common sense." and "If it sounds too good to be true, it
probably is."
This section of
www.RentBoyConfidential.com
is a service to both escorts and clients to keep you aware of things
that we are made aware of.
ATTENTION CLIENTS:
Added: 08/21/06
Reported in Orlando, Chicago, Ft.
Lauderdale and elsewhere.
Escort will ask the client to send
Western Union before appointment.
Escort will never show up.
Think about this: Would you wire money
for dinner or other services before you actually recieved it?
ATTENTION ESCORTS:
Added: 08/21/06 (..when I first put up
the page.)
Reported worldwide
You will get an email from a Yahoo!,
MSN, Hotmail, AOL, AIM or other portal e-mail from a client who is
going to be traveling into your city for business or a conference or
because a family member is ill.
He will want to book a long period of
time with you like 3 days to a week.
He will want to send you a money order
beforehand.
He will ask you for your address and
set up time.
You may actually speak to someone,
most likely from a blocked, restricted or private number.
You may actually get a FedEx, DHL or
similar package with real-looking money orders.
The mail will usually look something
like this:
Greetings!
Thanks for the internet assess which make me locate a gay excort
to keep my company when i get to the canada.I will be spending
weeks in the canada,i got your information after relentless
search for an excort to keep my company upon my arrival in the
canada.Mail me back if you will be available when i get there.
Love from peter
or
Hello,
Hello how are you, I'm Bobby Maxwell an handsome and cute sexy
guy living in Uk, I have a two days confrence over their in the
state on the 5th and 6th of June, and i will need an Escort for
the two night i will use in the state, so i found your profile
on
www.canadianmaleescorts.com and i like the way you look and
the words you wrote their about your self, so i wish to know
your charges for an hour or only two night so i can pay you the
upfront payment before my arival day, and also include your
picture as i include my own to know more about how you look.
Bobby!
What to watch out for:
-
Nowhere do these emails use the
name of a city. The writer does not specifically state either
where the client is from or where they're headed to.
-
Was it a mass mailing? Was it
addressed directly to you? Look at the e-mail headers in the TO:
CC and BCC fields.
-
The second one offers to make
payment up front. This is a warning sign on two fronts. Honey,
it's escorting, I dont know that I have heard of many valid
times a real client wants to or has offered to pay up front in
their initial contact with an escort. That's something you work
into.
-
Where is the IP address? You can
run an IP address check and see where it was sent from? Is it
from Canada or the UK or from a hotel in Boston?
-
Myself or other escort friends
have gone back and forth with the e-mails, so there are people
who are willing to invest time in the scam. Use the word 'HERE'
and ask "...when are you coming here." and see how long it takes
for him to know where you are. If he was interested in hiring
you, he would know where you were or where you were going to
meet.
-
Guys with large amounts of money
to spend on escorts generally have respectable writing skills.
Their sentence structure may be poor if English is not their
first language, aside from that it will be okay.
-
Okay, both generally contain bad
spelling and grammar.
Later on, you will get an e-mail
like this:
"I will send you a money order for six thousand US dollars. You
will keep two thousand for your fees plus five hundred dollars
to rent a suitable hotel room for the two of us and send the
balance of three thousand five hundred to me."
I have one word for you, actually two,
but you know what I mean - IDENTITY THEFT.
I know, I know, you are the exception, you have a real deal here,
you even got the money orders. Not so fast, my dear.
The money orders he sent were
counterfit.
You deposit them in your bank account
and wire him the money before they come back as no good and the
money gets reversed out of your bank account.
or
He cancels and wants the money back
after you deposit them.
One of my other friends got to the
bank and the teller said, "I am supposed to call the police on you.
We have a bunch of these and we know that the recipients of the
money orders are escorts, so I am keeping these, but you need to go
now."
Think about this:
Never let your desire for the dollar
make you ignore that little voice in your head.
If your first insitinct is not to
trust something, that's all you have especially in this industry, so
trust your judgement.
We all want to be the exception and be
the one time it really was a HOT deal, but remember, "If it sounds
too good to be true, it probably is."
